Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts
The Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts is an adaptive reuse project located in Dawson Creek. This project transformed the city’s decommissioned 1950s post office into a community arts centre providing rehearsal spaces for theater, music, and dance; studios for pottery, painting, and weaving; as well as community meeting rooms, the city archives, and a daycare. To maintain its heritage character, interventions to the building’s exterior were limited to the addition of a single, large-scale, programmable LED panel used to display messaging regarding special events. The project hums with the life of northern BC Arts lovers. The Calvin Kruk Centre for the Arts was awarded the Judge's Choice and Best Overall Entry awards at the Northern BC Commercial Building awards in 2016.
*Bruce Haden was Design Lead and Principal in Charge on this project while at DIALOG.
