Coast Mental Health

Coast Mental Health is an innovative provider of housing and services for people struggling with mental health issues. They are one of the best and most respected providers of these services in greater Vancouver. Their headquarters site at 11th and Kingsway is part of the Broadway plan rezoning area recently approved for greater density by the City of Vancouver. FLUID Architecture is carrying out feasibility and concept design studies to support Coast’s strategy for redeveloping this site with up to 500 housing units. The building will include housing, new offices for Coast Mental Health, a Centre of Excellence for collaborative research on mental health issues and services, and adult and youth “Clubhouse” spaces to provide services to residents and non-residents.

One of the inspirational ambitions of this project is to provide a full range of housing from supportive studio units to three-bedroom market family units. The goal is to create a fully integrated community with a range of services to address a range of different types of needs. The intention is a complete mixing of all ranges of housing.
